Please submit a "Request to Address the Board" form prior to the meeting. Not more than three (3) minutes are to be allotted to any one (1) speaker, nor more than twenty (20) minutes on the same subject. This portion of the agenda is for presentations to the Board and not a question and answer period where the Board enters into dialogue. if you have questions for the Board, please provide the Board President with a copy and an administrator will provide answers at a later date. Public comments beyond thirty (30) minutes will be at the discretion of the Board President.

III.A.1. WCUSD Governance Team Transition Workshop (Discussion Item)

Emy Flores, Ed.D., Superintendent
Quick Summary / Abstract:

In December 2021, the WCUSD School Board hired Dr. Emy Flores as new Superintendent of Schools. As a new Governance Team, the Board of Trustees and Dr. Flores must engage in Governance Team training and workshops, setting the stage for trust and the building of a common vision, unity of purpose, and a positive organizational culture. The WCUSD Board Governance workshop, which will be facilitated by Nicole Anderson and Associates, aims to build a strong and collaborative Governance Team that can best serve the needs of the West Covina Unified School District learning community.

Consultants Nicole Anderson and Deborah Keys from Nicole Anderson & Associates is a professional group that works with school districts across the country in leading Governance training/workshops through a student-focus lens.

The workshop will continue the development of these strategies in areas such as communication and understanding of each other’s role.
